Modern standard Arabic as well as Classical Arabic appeal; the modern standard sort to be able to converse in an everyday basis, the classical version to be able to read and understand the Qur'an.

Umar,
I was born in China, but live in the United States. I am not a Muslim in the typical sense, but my beliefs are that being Muslim means going back to the root of the word, "one who submits to God", and that is true of me. As my profile says, I seek God and Truth. I seek to love and understand everyone, no matter their beliefs. I want to learn Arabic because it is a beautiful language and the original language of the Quran. I want to be able to speak to the people of the world with an understanding of the faith in the world. I believe in the One God, Umar, we are together in that respect. There is no God but God... I hope we can get to know each other during our time on Gather. I've written many interesting articles. I see you have too! I'm going to stop by sometime later and read through your work. My pings are typically left unanswered...I'm happy you took the time to answer mine! Motasharefon bema'refatek!

Assalam Alaykum! Ana bikhair, shukran!
That's about the limit of my Arabic, I will be taking a class this summer.... It's nice to know my pings are not all reduced to dust! :) Where do you hail from?

Umar, the new poem has me in a stir...I wanted to spend more time reading it and assimilate the multilayered dust storm it raised in my mind. A world of ever and ever....contacted again through metaphors, mysteries unravelled...and beautifully set out for us. I am a bit rushed for time, but I will be back, to sink my soul into the glorious wheel.
